Car Rental Terms and Conditions
Minimum rental duration
Minimum rental period is half day (12h)
Reservations:
All reservations are made based on the vehicle category, not for a specific model. In case of non-availability of a vehicle in the category pre-selected by the customer, always with reference to a confirmed reservation, Autovacances reserves the right to provide to the customer a higher category car, at no extra charge for the customer.
After hours deliveries – collections:
Customer extra charge: 20€.
Driver:
23 years old is the minimum age requirement for using cars of categories B,C D and 25 years of age is the minimum age requirement for the rest of car categories.
Traffic tickets – Fines:
Traffic tickets and fines due to violations of the Highway Code are borne by the Renter. In addition, the Renter undertakes the payment of management costs, where required.
Means of Payment:
The Renter is required to produce a credit card as guarantee for the rental, even if payment is made in cash. Rental is prepaid.
Driving license:
Production of a valid license for driving in the Greek territory and the E.U., issued at least 1 year prior to the rental’s starting date, is required. Citizens of countries outside the E.U. are required to be in possession of a valid international driving license, along with producing the national driving license.
Reservations & Last Minute Reservations:
In case you want to make a last minute booking you can contact us to inform you about availability at our office. The company reserves the right, depending on the availability, to provide a different type of car to the original booking of a corresponding, or of higher category. Also only one booking per person per vehicle is allowed for the same rental conditions (dates, location, vehicle).
Fuel Policy
The vehicle is delivered with a certain amount of fuel (always marked on the car rental agreement), and the renter has to return the vehicle with the same level of petrol, otherwise a charge of fuel in addition to refueling fee of 10,00€ will apply.
Kilometers:
At the rental price of the car, you have the right to make as many kilometers as you want, without any extra charge.
Administration Fee for fines
Infringement management costs
The renter is liable for the payment of all traffic fines that may occur during the car rental.
Loss or damage of key
In case of loss or damage of car key during the rental, the renter is liable for following charges: 60,00€ for small and medium car groups.
Destruction of additional equipment type Charge per piece(+VAT)
- Child car seat (until 6 months) 50,00€
- Child car seat (from 6 monhts) 50,00€
- Navigation System (GPS) 100,00€
Car cabin
In case the renter returns the vehicle and it's cabin has stains which require a special cleaning procedure he will have to pay the amount of 80,00€
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations
In case you cancel your order up to 2 days prior to picking up the vehicle, there is no charge. If canceled up to 1 day before arrival date, 100% of the amount of your reservation will be charged. In addition we do not refund any Ζmoney in case you change your initial reservation.
No-show
In case the renter fails to collect the vehicle on the rental start date and time without any written or telephone conversation, Sixt will cancel the reservation after 3 hours. Autovacances reserve the right to charge the renter a one day rental of the car group reserved.
Vehicle collection
When collecting the vehicle, all renters need to bring:
- A valid driver's license.
- A valid credit card or Debit card with his/her name imprinted on it.
- If the renter does not hold a credit card, he can only rent a car as long as he/she has taken the Full Damage Waiver insurance (F.D.W.) and have already pre-paid the whole rental value as well as the guarantee deposit of 600,00€.
- When collecting the vehicle, the renter will be given a Rental Agreement which has to check and sign. The Rental Agreement will show all services and insurances provided as well as any extra services and insurances that the renter might request with their relevant charges.
- It is very important that the renter checks and reports any means of damages on the vehicle in order to avoid any charges regarding damages caused by a previous renter. The renter has to sign the Collection and Delivery Form for damages on the vehicle.
Vehicle Condition:
The vehicle is delivered to the customer in good condition and free of visible defects. Any complaints must be submitted before the departure of the vehicle. During the rental period the renter is obliged to check the mechanical condition (oil, water) and to protect the car and the condition of the tyres. In case a car transport platform is necessary to collect the car from a dirt road/off road area or if the battery is dead because of renter’s fault(e.g. forgot to turn off the lights) the cost is 100€.
Vehicle replacement:
In the event of an accident, your vehicle will be replaced by a vehicle of the same or higher category within 24 hours. In case the damage of the car is because of the renter negligence the company has the right not to replace the car.
Insurance:
All authorized drivers are covered against and/or with:
- Damages from Fire to the rented vehicle
- Liability Insurance to Third Party death, injury, and property
Collision Damage Waiver
- You are covered against damages caused from Third Parties.
- Also, all vehicles are subject to liability and fully comprehensive automobile and property damage insurance (for third parties, up to 1.220.000,00 € for persons and up to 1.220.000,00 € for damaged properties).
Personal Accident Insurance
- In case of an accident, all passengers are covered for bodily injuries or death.
Theft Protection Cover
- In case the car is stolen, you are relieved from the responsibility.
Full Damage Waiver
- With FDW you are fully relieved from the responsibility for any damage on the body of the car.
- FDW Insurance also covers damages caused in an event of fire, of glass and/or window break, repairable tyres, and repairable engine damages.
- As a necessary condition for release from liability, the damage must be proven not to have been caused by a Highway Code violation. Coverages are subject to General Terms of Best Hellenic’s insurance contract with its Insurer.
- In the unfortunate event of an accident you should contact us immediately and sign an accident report from our Insurance Company. Without this report the renter is responsible in full for the repairs. With this report the renter is fully covered for damages caused on his vehicle (see exceptions). No unauthorized repairs should be made.
- The insurance is valid and cover you only for the period booked and indicated on the Rental Agreement. Please call us in order to amend your Rental Agreement. An extra fee may apply, in accordance with section
Exceptions to Insurance Coverage:
- For negligent or drunk driving, driving under influence of drugs or on unauthorized roads, non-asphalt roads, driving to prohibited areas/countries, obvious acts of disregards to the vehicle. In these cases, the renter will be responsible for the full amount of the repairs.
- For accidents caused by a Driver not declared in the Rental Agreement.
- For damages caused in the interior, in the cabin, and the roof of the car, and/or damages caused by negligence and disuse of the car.
- Theft Protection Insurance will not cover personal items.
- Theft Protection Insurance is not valid in case of renter’s negligence or culpability (e.g. car keys left on car’s ignition).
- Wheels and underside are not covered in case of off road and negligent driving.
- In case you ferry the car off the island of Crete.
- Pull other vehicles or objects
- Drive on dirt road, off-road sand or water.
- Rent the vehicle to any third party or driven by someone who is not registered in the rental agreement
- Transport dangerous or flammable objects
- Carry more people than the number indicated on the license.
- Violate traffic rules (speed limits, road directions, U-turns,Stop signs) or parking rules.
- The renter should always tie the vehicle’s parking brake
- Should not burn out the clutch
- Should not be sitting on car parts like roof or bonnet
Personal Belongings:
The car hire company cannot be held responsible for the customer’s losing any personal belongings either left or abandoned on board.
